Casual Copper - Lets make some gold.

"The economy depends about as much on economists as the weather does on weather forecasters."

~Jean-Paul Kauffmann

This quote has always been a favorite of mine. Meaningful, humorous and very open to interpretation.

Hold on just a moment, you came here for advice on World of Warcraft gold didn't you? What does this quote have anything to do with World of Warcraft? In my interpretation it has everything to do with what separates the players who are struggling to get by and the auctioneer who is swimming in his Scrooge McDuck vault full of gold coins. Read on after the break!

Let me not get too far ahead of myself here. First off, welcome to Casual Copper! We are a new blog dedicated to making gold in World of Warcraft. There are currently hundreds of gold blogs out there who do the same thing, right? Wrong. Casual Copper is designed, as the name would imply, with the casual player in mind. We offer insight into the gold eco-system, how to predict the changes in the wow economy, and hopefully throw a little splash of humor and philosophy into the mix.

Now that we both know why we are here. Let me get back to one of my favorite economy quotes. In my interpretation of this quote Mr. Kauffmann is stating that the economy can not be controlled by a single person no matter how much people like to bash weathermen or economist their respective fields did not cause, in most cases, for the economy or weather to go bad.

Now I am in no way saying that the WoW economy can not be controlled to some extent, I know it can as I've done it on multiple occasions. I'm saying you shouldn't try it as a casual player. The WoW economy is one of the largest virtual economies to ever exist. It's a living breathing entity and should be respected as such. Your job as a player in the gold game is to not fight the economy but use it to your advantage. My goal is to help you casual players out there learn how to use this economy to your advantage. It won't start off quick, but I promise you if you're patient and receptive you'll be taking that dive in ol' Scrooge McDuck's vault before you know it.
